Ferrari Daytona mid-engine concept front 3/4 using Adobe Photoshop and Vizcom.ai
A Bad Ass Look

Naturally, I have the most fun imagining mid-engine car designs. Ferrari’s are, in particular, very fun to draw. The styling is sexy, powerful and more recently, modern. I love the romantic, muscular yet graceful forms.

I began this series by sketching in Adobe Photoshop over a rendering I found on Pinterest. I added fenders to it from a 1939 Packard to incorporate softer shapes into the design. Adding wheels gave the sketch more realism. The side view theme came together quickly.

The initial Vizcom.ai results looked very dramatic when I used a good reference image. Vizcom General style yielded the best rendering results. I combined the best hood, front fender, side and rear quarter from four different Vizcom generated images using Photoshop.

It took a few tries to find an appropriate front that had the drama of the side theme. It was easier to ideate the front once I decided that the design was going to be a Ferrari.

Originally, I was going for a wilder theme. Ultimately, I decided to add a touch of familiarity to make the design relatable but still bad ass.

The featured image is the result of much Photoshopping to get the proportions, reflections and details just right.

  1. Great designs Bob.
They would be fun and very interesting to clay model.
Anyone doing your designs in clay?
I would like to follow. My clay modeling days are far in the rear view mirror.
