And now for something completely different.
Sometimes I like to shake things up with my designs. I was going for a Syd Mead vibe for this series. I was influenced by a sketch that I found on Behance which I’ve included below. I love the drama and mood of the rendering.
I started with a series of pencil sketches that I photoshopped then generated many versions of in Vizcom. My early versions had uppers that looked like fish bowls. I inverted several of these in photoshop to arrive at the solution of a body color side panel that provides privacy but is also see through from the inside. One big door opens by swinging up. This is intended to be an autonomous concept. The long wheelbase offers much utility for passengers and storage.
At first I wasn’t able to generate any AI videos of this design. The AI was totally confused by my sketch and created random videos of other designs. Once I tightened up my sketch, I had better success. I took a few still frames from several videos and rendered them in photoshop then generated more videos from them. Each time I elevated the design in the process.
The video that I used to create the featured image from was a mess. In fact I wasn’t even going to pursue photoshopping it because I knew how much work it would take. But I saw something in it that I thought was worth the effort. It had a view of the car that I liked plus an interesting background. Originally, AI put a conventional hood on my design. The proportion was all wrong. But once I completed the rendering I decided to make it my featured image.
After the rendering was completed, I then decided to brand it a Cadillac. I felt that there was a certain elegance and grace to the design which are hallmarks of Cadillac style.
The main lesson that I want to pass on from this post is how to use AI to improve your design work. I generated a ton of images in Vizcom and many videos with Sora before I was satisfied with the results. Each time I evaluated the outcome and elevated the design by letting AI crank out options, carefully editing the results and photoshopping the best images together. It sounds simple but it takes good design judgment and many years of experience to make it look easy.

All your hard work on this one finally paid off. With EVs, Long wheelbase should be the proportion of the future providing more interior space and a smoother ride. The black and silver give the design an elegant look that is very appropriate for Cadillac. I wonder what the CD would be for this one in the wind tunnel. The shape looks pretty aerodynamic.

Hi Bob. An interesting and advanced sketch with sleek lines. Your work is really exciting to see. I admit I’m likely to be old school here, but this concept is further out than implied by the Cadillac branding.
