When Dave McIntosh asked me if the Retired League of Automotive Designers should have a theme next year, I responded that Bugatti would be an ideal choice. You can do a modern version drawing from their beautiful, romantic and graceful designs of the past or, as I did for this post, reinterpret the current Bugatti design language.
I started with a pencil sketch that I liked, originally intended as a Cadillac. I freehand sketched that theme in Photoshop over a photo of the Bugatti La Voiture Noir. This design came together very quickly as my best work usually does.
I had great success using the Vizcom style: Pastel Render for the featured image. However, I couldn’t get Vizcom to render the bodyside surface that I wanted, so I rendered it myself. I love the dramatic backlit view with the throng of admiring photographers.
I created the last image with Photoshop by selecting Filters>Stylize>Glowing Edges. I like the graphic quality it has.
