I decided to brand this car a Camaro late in the design process. I usually have ideas for shapes and surfaces that I play with in various combinations until something interests me. Once a design starts taking shape, I then decide what make it is.
The inspiration for this design came from a LinkedIn post by Justin Ruyack. I’ve included the retro futuristic Chrysler sketch that appealed to me. I became obsessed with the rear fender from Justin’s design and incorporated it into my theme. I wanted to see what would happen by adding uncovered wheels to portions of his design.
I imported a rough pencil sketch into Vizcom.ai to get things started. I used Justin’s sketch for the reference image. I combined a couple versions in Adobe Photoshop and generated several AI videos in ChatGPT Sora. The initial videos sucked but I was able to use a still frame to photoshop over which I’ve included in this post. I combined my two photoshop images into the featured image.
I liked the idea of black wheels together with oversized black flairs poking through the fenders to emphasize the wheels and tires. This created the opportunity to create unique graphics between the body color surfaces and the black flairs, wheels and tires.
I generated the video in this post from the featured image using ChatGPT Sora and Runway ML. I was finally able to get a video that had my design moving forward with the wheels spinning correctly using Sora. Some of the details in the video weren’t exactly what I wanted but it’s a start. My experience is that it’s still a very hit or miss process to get usable videos with Sora and Runway despite specific instructions in the prompt. I’m still learning.

The final result looks fantastic! Definitely smacks of Camaro heritage.
