Citroen Touring Sedan Part 3

A French Vision

I hadn’t designed a complete vehicle in my previous posts until now. But there’s something about this particular car’s styling that I couldn’t let go. Making it a French marque allowed me to get into a mindset of new possibilities.

I started with a front 3/4 sketch that was done in Photoshop based on the rear 3/4 design in my last post. I had success with the palette: Realistic Product in Vizcom. I included several raw generated versions in this post.

I re-proportioned the cropped car from the Vizcom rendering onto my previous featured image in Photoshop taking care to line up the wheels. I like the dynamic 3/4 perspective of this view.

I then focused on creating a front that was worthy of the rest of the design. I wanted it to be very French: dramatic, flamboyant and avant-garde. Citroen doesn’t have a strong design identity, in my opinion. So I had to invent one. Their front designs tend to be busy and very fussy with a strange combination of lighting elements.

I tried many different front designs before I landed on the final one. To achieve this design, I took the cropped area ahead of the rear wheel and re-proportioned it before the front wheel. I chose to make the lighting mysterious by placing them in the shadows.

I generated the AI video in ChatGPT Sora and Runway ML using the Adobe Express video merger tool from the featured image.

I put my AI videos in YouTube for my posts since they’re heavy files. I added music to this one by selecting Editor>Audio>Edit. YouTube has a selection of music that is copyright-safe and royalty-free. I chose ‘Tropic Fuse’ for this post. You can adjust the volume by clicking  the three dots on the far right of the bar just above the video frames. Since I have the video setting on ‘Loop’, the music plays continuously. Let me know if this is annoying.

Thanks again for keeping me up to date on your Citroen project. I am particularly interested because I owned a Citroen DS-19 for a while. I loved the out of the box French styling shapes and proportions and the unique Pneumatic soft suspension. But getting back to your design, I really like the strong reflection of the glass and side scoop shapes playing off each other. I also like this more simplified front end in your last video. The 2nd generation of your rear design is also much better and more pleasing than the first stage that was a little too complex. I’m still waiting for someone to approach you and say, “Lets build one of these amazing designs.” I am still only working with my 50 year old sketches from GM and giving them the Vizcom treatment. I’ll send you a couple to your Linked in account for your amusement.

    Thanks again. Ron Will

    1. Thanks Ron, I really appreciate your support and encouragement. Those ‘atta-boys’ keep me going.
You’re the second person to mention the displeasing ‘teeth’ in the earlier versions of this design. As I mentioned in my first Citroen post, I had just watched the movie ‘Alien’ which influenced the elongated upper on my design.
Perhaps I was too literal by adding the creature’s teeth as well. Sometimes I take risks earlier in the design development that upon further reflection are not of good taste. I’ll have to work on my edit button.
