Porsche 911 Carrera exterior concept using Adobe Photoshop and Vizcom.ai
A Modern Take

This design started from the initial sketch in my last post of the Mercedes shooting brake. I had been playing around with graphics and soft forms at the time. The initial sketch for this post is only two inches wide. I’m able to focus on the whole car and be more expressive with small doodles. I had two pages covered with them by the time I decided on a direction.

I continued to refine one of the views then generated several Vizcom renditions from it. The Palette ‘Technicolor’ yielded the most dramatic results for rendering style. I love the strong lighting and moody backgrounds of that style. I combined 4 Vizcom renderings in Adobe Photoshop to achieve the featured image.

I chose Porsche for the marque since the soft forms lent themselves to the German brand. Plus, I hadn’t sketched one before and it was time to try something different.

I had great success with Runway ML for AI videos. As usual, the 720p resolution is clean and the videos are smooth. I had great difficulty with ChatGPT Sora. It eventually produced exciting animations but I had to generate many videos to get some good ones.

I edited the videos using clipchamp.com to remove unwanted sections and to slow the video down to make it run longer. Note that Clipchamp now requires you to login through a Microsoft account rather than a Google account.

The Sora video that I wanted had a download error. To solve the problem, I had to open the browser’s developer console by right-clicking on the video and selecting ’Inspect’. Then I had to go to the ‘Network’ tab and refresh the page. I found the video file in ‘Media’ then clicked on it and went to the ‘Headers’ tab to find the direct link. I then copied the link and pasted it into a new tab to play the video, then used the three-dots menu to download it.

I combined three videos using Adobe Express to merge them. The first video is Sora and the last three are Runway. Unfortunately, the Runway video doesn’t have the wheels turning while the car is driving down the road. But I like the views of the car nevertheless.

The last two renderings in this post are video still frames rendered with Photoshop.

  1. Bob, I love the video and sketches, although I liked the hard line on the hood before you softened the lines on the hood. Albeit the softened hood is more Porsche like. I felt the hard line surface details on body side behind front wheel opening needed the hard lines on the hood. Very cool you are experimenting merging different technology to get your needed results. Best Regards Snabes
